Tom firstly helped me vocalise what my goals were and then reviewed my portfolio. He provided expert advice on where I could maximise my investments and put it in terms I could understand.
1. Please provide some background information e.g. your job, marital status, any children, needs, concerns and goals
Currently Head of Production at a biosciences company. Married with no children. No major concerns or needs. Goal is to enjoy the last few years of full-time employment before transitioning into retirement either through part-time work and/or volunteering.
2. Why did you need financial advice? Was it a problem you had or a goal you wanted to achieve?
Once I entered my fifties, I felt I needed to review my finances and understand if I was putting enough away for my retirement. I had investments that weren’t offering great returns and lacked the financial acumen to choose the right strategy.
3. How did your adviser help?
Tom firstly helped me vocalise what my goals were and then reviewed my portfolio. He provided expert advice on where I could maximise my investments and put it in terms I could understand. The financial modelling provided was invaluable and helped to show me that I was on track and didn’t need to make any major changes to my current lifestyle.
4. How have you benefited from the advice? How has your life changed? What can you do now that you couldn’t previously?
I now feel reassured that I could retire at a potentially earlier age than I previously thought possible. Without the financial modelling I would never have found that out. The returns on my investments have also improved significantly. I’ve not had to alter my current outgoings and can still live the life I want to without compromising. I can now start to look forward to retiring on my terms and still have the means to do the things I want to.
