Our process

Planting the seed for the future

The first step in planting the seed of your financial plan is an initial call to see if we’re a good fit and can add value. If so, we’ll send you an initial fact-find and preparation guide for our discovery meeting.

In that meeting, we’ll learn more about you, and you about us, through questions like “What was money like growing up?” and “What does money mean to you?” We’ll also go through our process, so you understand how we work and how we get paid.

01

Choosing the right place to grow

While you complete a more detailed fact-find and our “Getting to Know You” questionnaire, we’ll be busy in the background, sending Letters of Authority and setting you up on our client portal.

Our next meeting focuses on where to plant your financial plan: your investments. We’ll explore your risk tolerance and share our detailed investment philosophy in plain English.

The aim of this stage is to ensure your financial plan has the best possible chance to grow strong and steady.

02

Seeing your plans take root

Then, in our next meeting, we’ll use sophisticated cashflow software to show how things currently stand, explore scenarios, and adjust where needed. Afterwards, we’ll send you a summary of the meeting and a copy of your cashflow forecast, so you can analyse them in your own time.

It’s at this point that you should start to gain real clarity as to your current position, future position and any obstacles that may be in your way as well as options to overcome them.

03

Researching ways to help you thrive

While you take time to review your plan, we’ll research the best ways to help your financial plan grow strong and steady so you can get to where you want to be financially and personally. We’ll keep you updated weekly, so you’re always in the loop.

Once our research is complete, we’ll present our recommendations and confirm the next steps.

04

Supporting you through changing seasons

Just like a tree needs watering and care, your financial plan thrives through regular monitoring and adjustments as life evolves. Patience and trust in the process are key.

We meet with you annually to review progress, discuss any personal or financial changes, and update your cashflow forecast, ensuring your plan continues to grow in the right direction.

What trust looks like to our clients

Andy

It is a real weight off our minds to know that someone who knows what they are talking about is looking after the financial side of things. Tom’s encouragement that we can afford to take lots of holidays is a big win!

Jonathan

Tom firstly helped me vocalise what my goals were and then reviewed my portfolio. He provided expert advice on where I could maximise my investments and put it in terms I could understand.

I can't recommend Tom of Arboretum enough. He has been instrumental in getting a clear view of mine and my wife's short, medium and long term plans in life and how we can achieve them.
